This Is It!

I have so much cleaning and organizing and packing to do today, so instead of doing that, I took Sasha to see This is It, The Michael Jackson Movie. What a great idea that was. Sasha has never been to a movie theater before, and this was the perfect first movie for her (minus the scary Thriller part where she kept her face buried in my shoulder).
The whole way to the theater we listened to our favorite MJ songs and we got all pumped up for the 11:55am show. The entire experience was magical for her, even watching mom try to use the automated ticket machine for the first time. We skipped the concessions stand because we came prepared with our own free Halloween skittles (no sense in getting her accustomed to buying the $5 candy when she will spend the rest of her life smuggling in treats and drinks the way her frugal folks do). We made it into the theater and up to the top row as the last preview was playing (perfect timing). So the movie starts and 2 minutes later her candy has been eaten and she is ready to sing and dance (hence our choosing the back row). I could barely keep myself in my seat, the music was so loud and the songs they chose were terrific. We were clapping after every song. I could not wipe the smile off my face for the rest of it. They even showed him singing "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" which has been her very favorite song for the last 3 weeks. The whole thing was perfect! I even got a little teary from time to time just realizing again that he died and all that talent of his is gone forever. I also got a bit emotional just thinking about how lucky I am to be sharing this great experience with my adorable, unique little girl. What a perfect date with my sweet Sasha! Today will become a fond memory for decades to come.

  1. What a fabulous date indeed and you scored with a movie you both LOVED. I can just picture her jamming on the back row with you all teary eyed. Too funny! Maybe we'll go see it with you if you're game for a repeat.
