It's The Little Things

I always say it, and it's always true. It's the little things in life that make it so great. Let's face it, I won't be relaxing on a beach anytime soon, or getting backstage passes to meet my favorite band for at least the next twenty years, so I make it a habit to enjoy the little things. My favorites are: An uninterrupted hot shower, a new gossip magazine and a cold soda, a smokin' hot bargain, cinnamon and sugar toast, the perfect parking spot, a random e-mail from an old friend, Thursday night TV, Sasha's wit, Lyla's "hammin' it up" smile, Daves dancing, appetizers at a party, a free music download and during the holiday season, a mailbox full of Christmas cards. The cards are great because you never expect them and you never know who will send you one. I like the word ones, but the picture card are the best. I just love to see every ones smiling faces. I almost didn't make cards this year because I've just been busy and it seemed like an overwhelming task, but at the last minute I pulled it together and got it done. I'm so glad I did, because I would love to make someones day the way they've made mine. Not to mention that this year, Sasha was really involved with it and she loves our card. Speaking of Sasha, she loves the little things too. Just today I pulled a little piano toy (probably an old happy meal toy) out of my purse and gave it to her for a car ride. When I got in the car she immediately said,"How did you know mom? This is my most perfect present! I always wanted a piano!". I made her day just by handing her a junky little toy. It doesn't take much to make her that happy. A Capri Sun fruit drink or a measuring tape will illicit the same response of pure joy. The point is, enjoy the little pleasures that life brings you everyday, because there's no sense in overlooking the little things that truly make you happy.
Dave put on this silly hat I like to wear when it snows. He was sweet enough to let me take a picture. I treasure pictures like this.

Sasha dressing up and being silly!

Posing for some pictures...

Lyla's crazy smiles! She loves to turn it on for the camera.

  2. Love the reminder that the little things really do make life so great. I agree - US Weekly, Diet Dr. P, long hot shower (like a spa day for moms)...
